For September MusicEdMagic has chosen the Bucholz High School Band and Aviance Visual Ensemble Web Site as the winner of the Best Band Web Site Award.

The design of the site is very clean, attractive, and has great eye catching contrast of elements.  The webmasters, Pam and Derrius Marlin designed the layout using a technique called Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) rather than using the old style raw HTML to format the site.  CSS gives you a lot more flexibility over the look of the site and also helps your pages load faster and with fewer requests to the remote web server.

The site also features a very nice PHP based web calendar which although very compact, displays the information for each date in a box that pops up when a specific date is selected.  The entire calendar is also available as a single PDF download.

One of the things that draws the eyes in to the Buchholz Band Web Site is the beautifully eye catching photographs that grace the top of some of the pages.  Devoted band parents, Richard Lynch & Don Enkerud, are to be commended for their photography skills.  The photos themselves are rather large in size (over 200k each), but to see why we like them check out the contacts and booster club pages.
