Brass Embouchure Tip #1 PDF Print E-mail
Quicktips for Brass and Woodwinds
Written by Chad Criswell
One of the problems I often see in beginning brass players is having the bottom lip sticking out slightly, especially at the corners of the mouth on each side of the mouthpiece.  If the student can't seem to get the idea of making a proper "em" embouchure, tell them to think of an old Bugs Bunny cartoon where they "button" someone's lip (top lip over top of bottom).  While this is a gross exageration of the technique, at least it gets them thinking of having the top lip slightly pursed on top of the bottom one instead of letting the bottom lip stick out.
